Washington (ANTARA) - The US Federal Circuit Court of Appeals has temporarily allowed the administration of President Donald Trump to implement 10% global tariffs, while suspending a previous court ruling that prohibited the policy.

According to the ruling released on Tuesday, the court has postponed the implementation of the decision and permanent injunction from the US Court of International Trade until a further decision is made regarding the appeal process.

The parties challenging the legality of the tariffs have been given seven days to provide a response to the decision.

On 8 May, the Trump administration filed an appeal after the US Court of International Trade ruled the previous day that the 10% global tariffs imposed on foreign imports were unlawful and illegal.

In February, the US Supreme Court also decided to reject the tariffs imposed by Trump based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

Trump then criticised the ruling and ordered the implementation of temporary 10% tariffs on all imports to the US for 150 days.

Following that, he announced an increase in import tariffs to 15% for all countries.
