US Company Investment Reaches Rp 439 Trillion
The U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) Indonesia launched the U.S. Business for Indonesia (BISA) 2026 Report in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.
The report records 91 innovations undertaken by 43 United States companies in Indonesia throughout 2020-2026. The value of innovation recorded in the report reaches approximately US$ 24.8 billion, or about Rp 439 trillion, in the form of investment, programme funding, grants, and production value.
Titled “Innovation for Indonesia’s Future: How US Companies Support Indonesia’s Growth, Talent, Competitiveness, and Resilience,” the report was launched by USABC Indonesia with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia. Innovations from US companies are present in several sectors, including digital technology and cybersecurity, energy, mining, oil and gas, agriculture, as well as financial services and fintech. In terms of talent development, various US company initiatives recorded in the report have reached 10.7 million beneficiaries. To support economic resilience, these innovations are said to have supported approximately 8,000 conservationists and nearly 3,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Furthermore, innovations related to increasing business competitiveness have reached approximately one million digital users and over 80,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Marc Mealy, Executive Vice President of Research and Chief Policy Officer of USABC, stated that US companies operating in Indonesia for decades have contributed through innovation-based investment, technology partnerships, research collaboration, and capacity building.
“US companies that have been present in Indonesia for decades have been part of this journey through innovation-based investment, technology partnerships, research collaboration, and capacity building,” said Marc during the report launch.
Joy Sakurai, Chargé d’Affaires Ad Interim of the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia, noted that US company innovations have impacted several sectors in Indonesia, including agriculture, data security, artificial intelligence (AI), and education.
“US innovation has helped shape the lives of people in Indonesia and around the world, and contributes to a more prosperous future for the Indonesian people,” said Joy.
According to Joy, US companies have invested billions of dollars and generated billions of dollars in additional economic value in Indonesia. These investments, she added, have also opened economic opportunities for millions of Indonesians.
The report launch was also accompanied by a panel discussion featuring the Deputy for Research and Innovation Policy of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Boediastoeti Ontowirjo, the Director of Industrial Resource Access and International Promotion of the Ministry of Industry Bayu Fajar Nugroho, and the Chairperson of the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) Shinta Kamdani. The discussion also involved representatives from Coca-Cola Indonesia and Amazon Web Services.
The BISA 2026 report suggests that innovation-based investment and partnerships can unlock new opportunities for Indonesia, including digitalisation across various sectors, the development of technology-based industries, technological advancement in the agriculture and health sectors, and the construction of a more efficient and resilient economic system.
Marc stated that economic development requires investment in skilled talent development, increasing business competitiveness, and strengthening economic foundations to support long-term progress.
“The experience of US companies shows that investment in the form of innovation can be one of the primary drivers,” said Marc.
BISA is a USABC programme initiated in 2024 to highlight the contributions of United States companies to Indonesia’s economic resilience, human resource development, and industrial transformation.
