US Claims War Against Iran Approaching the 'Finish Line'

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the finish line or end in the war against Iran will arrive soon. Despite this, Rubio could not specify when the US-Iran conflict would end. “We can see the finish line. Not today, not tomorrow, but it will arrive soon,” Rubio said to the “Hannity” programme on Fox News, as reported by Al Jazeera on Wednesday (1/4/2026). He mentioned that direct meetings between US and Iranian officials might occur at some point in the future. Previously, US President Donald Trump stated that the US would end the war with Iran in two to three weeks. The war with Iran was said to be ending. Trump said the US would end its attacks on Iran in “two to three weeks”. He also claimed that the US had achieved regime change in Iran. Additionally, Trump emphasised that his side could end the war with Iran without reaching any negotiations with Iran. Pope Leo XIV also commented on Trump’s efforts to end the war with Iran. He said Trump was seeking a ‘way out’ to end the war raging in the Middle East. “I have been told that President Trump recently stated that he wants to end the war, hopefully he is seeking a way out, hopefully he is seeking a way to reduce the amount of violence, bombings,” the Pope said to reporters as he left his residence in Castel Gandolfo, outside Rome, heading to the Vatican, as reported by AFP on Wednesday (1/4).
