US Citizens Advised to Postpone Hajj Amid War: What About Indonesia?
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia has advised American citizens to reconsider their plans for Hajj pilgrimage this year amid the ongoing regional escalation.
“In line with the Saudi Travel Advisory, and due to the current security situation and periodic travel disruptions, we advise reconsidering Hajj this year,” the embassy stated, quoted from Anadolu Agency.
“Starting 18 April, everyone attempting to enter Mecca will be required to show a Hajj visa, a Mecca-issued resident identity card, or a valid Mecca work permit. Holders of other visas must leave Mecca before 18 April,” it added.
The embassy also urged US citizens to reconsider travel to Saudi Arabia.
What about Indonesia?
There is no advisory from the Indonesian Government to postpone Hajj. The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that the departure of prospective Hajj pilgrims for Wave I will begin on 22 April 2026.
Regional tensions continue to rise since Israel and the US launched attacks on Iran on 28 February. Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
