U.S. business mission due here

JAKARTA (JP): A 45-member business mission from the United States comprising hoteliers, bankers, media owners and garment makers will make a week-long visit to Indonesia starting on June 1 to look into trade and investment opportunities.

The business delegation, besides holding talks with Indonesian businesspeople and senior officials in Jakarta, will also visit Yogyakarta and Bali, said Tony Agus Ardie, Chairman of the U.S. Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Tony, who is involved in the preparations for the delegation's programs, said the American business delegates also expected to have a meeting with President Abdurrahman Wahid.

"Although we don't expect immediate business deals from the mission, a visit by such a large delegation to our country in this period of time is quite a boon to the effort to regain investor confidence," Tony added.
