US Bombs Iranian Air Defences and Radar Following Apache Downing Accusations
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced it has commenced strikes against a number of targets in Iran, citing self-defence. According to an official statement, the operation was carried out on the direct instruction of US President Donald Trump. CENTCOM stated the strikes were a response to the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter. They asserted the operation was a proportional response to unprovoked Iranian aggression. In an interview with the ABC television network, Trump said the United States is currently conducting retaliatory strikes against Iran. “We are responding to Iran right now. This response is very important because they have shot down a helicopter,” Trump said. He added, “In my opinion, the response to Iran must be very strong and very firm, and that is what we are doing now.” Trump also stated, “I believe in a strong response, that’s my approach. We had a very good deal with Iran, and I believe that deal will hold.”
