Moscow (ANTARA) - The United States will temporarily ban entry for African nationals, particularly those from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, within 21 days prior to their arrival, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC said in a statement on Thursday, 21 May, that the instruction relates to suspending entry into the United States for foreign nationals who have been in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan in the 21 days before arrival. The restriction will apply for 30 days, after which the CDC will decide whether to extend or lift the policy. U.S. citizens and green card holders will be allowed to enter but will face tighter screening. Green card holders are individuals with official permanent resident status in the United States. Last week, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that the Ebola outbreaks in the Congo and Uganda were in a state of emergency and posed a threat to other countries. Latest data from authorities in the Congo records 131 deaths from the virus. The Ebola outbreak in the Congo previously ended in October 2025. Source: Sputnik/RIA Novosti
