US B-2 Bomber Drops Dozens of 2,000-Pound Bombs on Iranian Missile Bunkers

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a number of B-2 bomber aircraft have been deployed to drop dozens of 2,000-pound penetrator bombs targeting Iranian ballistic-missile launchers buried at underground facilities. CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper, as reported by Anadolu Agency, on Friday (6 March 2026), said that the U.S. bomber forces have struck hundreds of targets across Iran over the past 72 hours, including several locations around the capital Tehran. ‘In the last 72 hours alone, American bomber forces have attacked nearly 200 targets deep inside Iran, including around Tehran,’ Cooper said at a press conference at CENTCOM’s headquarters in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday (5/3) local time. ‘And just in the last hour, several U.S. B-2 bombers dropped dozens of 2,000-pound penetrator bombs aimed at buried ballistic-missile launchers,’ he said. Cooper said that the U.S. military has also attacked ‘the Iranian Space Command, which has reduced their ability to threaten America’. However, Cooper did not provide further details about the facilities related to the Iranian Space Command that were attacked by the U.S. In his briefing, Cooper also added that U.S. military operations against the Iranian Navy have also increased. He cited more than 30 Iranian warships having been sunk by the U.S. military, and a drone carrier vessel of Iran’s collapsed/damaged warship was burning as a result of U.S. strikes. Furthermore, he said that Iran’s retaliatory strikes have declined significantly since the U.S.-Israel launched a large-scale attack on Saturday (28/2) local time. ‘Compared with our condition at the start, ballistic-missile strikes have fallen by 90 percent since day one. Drone strikes have fallen by 83 percent since day one. Nevertheless, we remain vigilant,’ Cooper said in his statement. The tensions in the Middle East region have intensified after the U.S. and Israel launched a large-scale joint attack on Iran since Saturday (28/2) local time and have continued to the present. In the past few days, the allied forces of the two countries have struck targets across Iran, including missiles, the navy, and military command and control facilities. The sequence of attacks has killed several prominent figures and senior Iranian officials, including the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated with missile and drone strikes against targets in Israel and U.S. bases in Gulf states. At least six American soldiers were killed by a drone strike on U.S. bases in Kuwait.
