US and Sweden sign MoU for cooperation in AI and defence

Washington (ANTARA) - The White House on Friday said that the United States and Sweden signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation across a range of areas from artificial intelligence (AI) to defence innovation. ‘The aim of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to unlock opportunities for collaboration in the field of strategic science and technology to support the development of the next generation AI and global connectivity,’ the White House said in a statement on Friday (22 May). The White House added that the cooperation also aims to accelerate biomedical research and innovation, boost industrial competitiveness, strengthen energy leadership and space cooperation, advance a secure quantum ecosystem, and bolster security in research and industry. Earlier that day, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard signed a cooperation agreement in the field of high technology at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.
