US and Iran Yet to Reach Agreement on Strait of Hormuz

Moscow (ANTARA) - The issue concerning the Strait of Hormuz has caused serious differences of opinion between the United States (US) and Iranian delegations during talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, as reported by Iranian media on Saturday (11/4). The Iranian government-owned television station, IRIB, reported that the negotiating delegations held two rounds of discussions in Islamabad, with the third round taking place on Saturday evening. The Strait of Hormuz is among the issues causing major disagreements among the negotiators, as Iran insists on maintaining its military presence in those waters, according to the Tasnim News Agency. The Iranian negotiators also emphasised the need for efforts to ensure the rights of the Iranian people, the report stated.
