US and Iran Sign MoU Electronically to End War
Washington (ANTARA) - The United States and Iran have electronically signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at ending the war, according to US media reports on Monday (15/6).
The MoU was signed virtually by US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The terms of the agreement are expected to be made public within the next 24 to 48 hours.
A formal signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on 19 June.
Earlier on Monday, Trump stated via his Truth Social account that oil tankers had begun moving out of the Strait of Hormuz.
On Sunday (14/6), Trump had indicated that a deal with Iran had been reached, shortly after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the development on social media platform X.
The US and Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Iran on 28 February, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and sparked a regional conflict that reshaped the Middle East’s security landscape. The ensuing war has claimed thousands of lives and disrupted global energy markets.
