US Airports in Chaos After 40 Days of "Shutdown", Trump Deploys ICE Personnel

Washington (ANTARA) - United States President Donald Trump has announced the deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel starting this Monday to enhance security at US airports following the partial suspension of government operations (“shutdown”). The government “shutdown”, which has lasted more than 40 days, has affected the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), under DHS, being the most severely impacted. TSA employees have reportedly gone weeks without pay. “Starting Monday, ICE will be deployed to airports to assist our outstanding TSA agents who remain steadfast in their duties despite the Radical Left from the Democratic Party … endangering the US by withholding long-agreed funds,” Trump stated via Truth Social. DHS had previously stated that US airports are plagued by chaos due to the government “shutdown”, causing security check queues of up to several hours and flight delays at various airports. “Airports from one end of the US to the other are experiencing major delays, HOURS-LONG security queues, and missed flights,” DHS said via social media platform X on Sunday (22/3). Like Trump, DHS also accused the Democratic Party as the root of the chaos resulting from the government “shutdown” measure.
