US Aircraft Allowed to Pass Over: 'It's the Same as Indonesia Supporting the Attack on Iran'

JAKARTA – Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Buya Anwar Abbas, has emphasised that Indonesia must not grant permission for United States (US) fighter aircraft to cross its airspace in the context of the conflict with Iran.

According to him, such a step would be tantamount to assisting in acts of colonialism and military aggression, which contradict the principles of humanity and justice upheld by the Indonesian nation.

Buya Anwar stated that if the war between the United States (US) and Iran continues, it is certain that there will be many casualties, both dead and wounded. Therefore, the war must be prevented and stopped.

“If the United States insists on continuing it, then the world, including Indonesia, must take a firm and resolute stance against it,” said Buya Anwar to Republika on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

This social, economic, and religious observer said that Indonesia should not give the United States the opportunity to act arbitrarily. Indonesia is a country that upholds the values of humanity and justice.

He emphasised that what the United States and Israel have done to Iran clearly violates these two noble values upheld by the Indonesian nation. Therefore, if the United States seeks permission for its fighter aircraft to pass through Indonesian airspace, it must be rejected.

“Because if Indonesia grants permission, it would mean that Indonesia has supported the United States in attacking, destroying, killing, and injuring the people of Iran, which clearly does not align with the principles and noble values we hold,” said Buya Anwar.

For this reason, Buya Anwar called on President Prabowo and the House of Representatives to boldly reject the US plan. Do not fear Donald Trump, but fear God and the people who will be furious.
