US-ABC on Indonesia’s Potential to become Global Supply Chain Powerhouse

Mark Mealy of the US-ASEAN Business Council says Indonesia has strong potential to become a key player in the global supply chain. To achieve this, he highlights three priorities: better infrastructure, stronger human capital, and clear, consistent policies.

With its large economy and rich resources, Indonesia already has a solid base. Mealy says the next step is creating regulatory certainty to attract more global investors, especially from the United States.

He notes growing US interest in downstream sectors such as waste-to-energy and healthcare. He also stresses the importance of government and private sector partnership, including support from state-owned enterprises and Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara. Mealy said clear policies and strong state backing are key to boosting investor confidence and accelerating Indonesia’s economic transformation.
