The Ministry of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) states that the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) on every Friday should not be considered a holiday. ASN are still required to report their performance results and remain under the supervision of their leaders. “WFH is Not a Holiday: ASN must report performance results and remain under leader supervision,” reads the caption of the official Instagram post from @kemenpanrb on Thursday (2/4/2026). Minister of PANRB Rini Widyantini has issued Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of PANRB Number 3 of 2026 regarding the Implementation of Official Duties, effective from 1 April 2026. “New Work Scheme: implementation of 4 days work from office (Monday-Thursday) and 1 day work from home (Friday),” explained the Ministry of PANRB. Rini emphasised that the digital-based WFH policy encourages more efficient execution of ASN duties. “Through this policy, we encourage the implementation of official duties that are more efficient, effective, adaptive, and digitally based, thereby improving ASN productivity and the quality of public services sustainably,” said Rini. Not only ASN, but private sector employees are also affected by the WFH policy. “We are asked to follow up in accordance with the President’s instructions. To strengthen national energy resilience, while promoting productive, adaptive, and sustainable work patterns, systematic steps are needed in utilising energy in the workplace,” she explained, quoted from Kompas.com on Wednesday (1/4/2026). “As conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy last night, we want 1 April to become a national momentum together. So this urging is to be followed and implemented effectively starting today,” she added.
