Urgent! Americans Urged to Leave Middle East Immediately
The United States Embassy in several Middle Eastern regions has warned its citizens of the potential for “unexpected escalation” in the regional conflict. The Embassy has also urged them to prepare for evacuation.
The warning was issued by US Embassies in Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. This alert comes just one day after US President Donald Trump threatened to strike Iran.
“US citizens in this region should consider leaving, or be prepared to leave if escalation occurs,” the security warning stated, as reported by Gulf News on Sunday (2/8/2026).
“US citizens currently in the Middle East must be cautious and increase vigilance, and must be prepared for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and potential travel disruptions,” the statement added.
US citizens in Jordan have been advised not to visit military bases in the country, which recently became the target of Iranian missile attacks. Meanwhile, in Israel, citizens have been urged to identify the nearest bomb shelters.
“The Iranian regime is unpredictable, as seen from its recent decision to attack areas in the region without warning or provocation, and expanding attacks to previously untargeted areas (such as Egypt),” stated the US Embassy in Jerusalem website.
The US Embassy in Beirut stated that its diplomatic mission remains on “ordered departure status,” meaning non-emergency US government personnel are still being relocated out of Lebanon.
On Saturday (1/8), the Iranian military accused the White House of triggering tensions in the region. Mohammad Mokhber, an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, also warned against any attacks targeting Iranian infrastructure.
“Directly attacking Iranian infrastructure will awaken a fault line that has been the foundation of US hegemonic architecture for 250 years,” he wrote on the X platform.
Iran and the US have engaged in mutual attacks again after a several-day hiatus in fighting, although no attacks were reported from Friday night through Saturday.
On Wednesday (29/7), a drone struck a US gas ship anchored in an Egyptian port, triggering a fire. Egypt is investigating the incident but has not yet attributed the attack to any specific group.
Meanwhile, an unidentified projectile hit a tanker off the coast of Oman on Saturday, amidst the struggle for control of the Strait of Hormuz between the United States and Iran.
Iran has effectively maintained control over navigation passing through the Strait of Hormuz since the outbreak of war on 28 February, requiring ships to obtain permits and pay transit fees before crossing the waterway.
This Middle East war erupted when the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, which were subsequently met by Iran with missile and drone attacks across various regions in the area.
On the Lebanese front, the Israeli military claimed on Saturday to have killed three Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon, while one of its soldiers sustained minor injuries during a close-quarters encounter with Hezbollah militants.
