Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is not rushing to decide whether Indonesia should withdraw from the Board of Peace (BoP) amid the United States–Israel conflict with Iran. The remarks were made by Nusron Wahid, Minister of the ATR/BPN, in response to growing calls for Indonesia to pull out of the BoP. He said Prabowo is not anti-criticism of the pressure.

However, Prabowo wishes to endeavour to foster peace first through the Board of Peace.

“But the position in Indonesia, the President’s position, the Indonesian people have accepted BoP as a vehicle, as an endeavour towards peace. At least this endeavour should be tried first,” Nusron told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Friday, 6 March 2026.

“Don’t let the endeavour and its efforts be undertaken yet, only to be asked to withdraw first,” he added.

Nusron explained that Prabowo had pondered how Indonesia could contribute to peace if there is no specific forum to participate in.

“Then the President also questions, if someone offers us a withdrawal from BoP, where would the negotiations for peace in Palestine and Gaza take place? In which forum? Because the forum to negotiate peace in Palestine and Gaza today is BoP,” he said.

Therefore, Nusron said Prabowo will monitor the situation first before deciding Indonesia’s withdrawal from the Board of Peace.
