The Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that the Urban Knowledge Hub, located in Karet Kuningan, South Jakarta, can serve as both a learning space and a platform for advancing technology and science.

“With the establishment of the Urban Knowledge Hub, it is hoped that Jakarta’s development will no longer rely solely on common sense, but will truly utilise more mature data, science, and technology,” stated Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung during the inauguration of the Urban Knowledge Hub on Monday.

Pramono noted that the Urban Knowledge Hub is one of three instruments being prepared as Jakarta transitions towards becoming a global city, alongside the Jakarta Future Festival and Jakarta Innovation Day. These learning spaces are expected to provide significant contributions to Jakarta’s future development.

“This includes decisions regarding infrastructure, such as transportation facilities, waste-to-energy power plants, and most importantly, the development of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) areas through scientific, data-driven, and empirical methods; that is what distinguishes planned development,” Pramono added.

The inauguration of the Urban Knowledge Hub, situated on the sixth floor of the Nyi Ageng Serang Building in South Jakarta, was conducted by the Jakarta Provincial Government on Monday. The facility functions as a space and exhibition centre for discussing urban planning systems.

Government agencies and schools may rent the space free of charge by submitting a permit request to the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of the Jakarta Provincial Government at City Hall. Available facilities at the Urban Knowledge Hub include meeting rooms, exhibition spaces, co-working spaces, and a prayer room (mushalla).
