UPS gets world's best award

JAKARTA (JP): International air express company United Parcel Service (UPS) has been awarded the title of "The world's most admired mail, package and freight delivery company" by Fortune magazine, just six months after the company won its 15th consecutive annual award as America's most admired transportation company.

In the complete lists of each industry sector published in the Oct. 26 issue of Fortune, UPS joined companies such as General Electric, Coca-Cola, Toyota, Nestle, KLM, DuPont and Procter and Gambler as leaders in their respective sectors.

Through an outside consulting firm, the magazine surveyed senior executives, directors and financial analysts to rate UPS on, among other things, its innovativeness, overall quality of management, responsibility to the community and environment, quality of product and services, financial soundness, ability to attract and keep talented people, and its effectiveness in doing business globally.

U.S.-based UPS links over 600 destinations in 200 countries and territories, and has a fleet of over 218 aircraft worldwide. (gis)
