UPS chooses RP as hub
MANILA (AFP): US courier firm United Parcel Service (UPS) on
Thursday signed a letter of intent to set up a US$300 million
regional hub in the Philippines, according to an official
statement.
The letter signed by UPS International president Ron Wallace
and Trade Secretary Manuel Roxas signifies UPS' intent to set up
operations in the former US air force base of Clark north of
Manila.
UPS is to dedicate 10 daily flights from its global fleet of
238 aircraft in its first year of operation at Clark, it said
without saying when the project would start.
President Gloria Arroyo witnessed the signing during a visit
to Clark.
