Uproar Over Claim That King Charles III Is a Muslim: The Chronology
King Charles III of the United Kingdom has been described as “a Muslim.” This claim was made by Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and personal lawyer to US President Donald Trump. He stated that the son of the late Queen Elizabeth is of the Islamic faith. He further claimed that “Muslims want to take over” the United Kingdom. Giuliani’s statements emerged during an interview on British journalist Piers Morgan’s YouTube programme on Monday local time. At the time, he was arguing in support of the US-Israel war against Iran. “I have heard from people in the UK that the UK will become a Muslim country in 10 years,” he told Morgan, as reported by the Arab website Middle East Monitor on Wednesday (1/4/2026). “The Roman Catholic Church is now larger in the UK than the Anglican Church. And Charles III may be the Muslim King of the UK,” he added. In reality, still referring to the same website, the notion that Charles III is secretly a Muslim is a popular online conspiracy theory. This is because the head of the Church of England is known as a great admirer of Islam and has even studied Arabic to read the Quran. Charles III has previously opined that Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are the three great monotheistic religions. According to him, they have more similarities than commonly understood. Giuliani further told Morgan that “Muslims in the UK are taking over and they want to take over” and “that is their goal.” He also stated that Iran is the driving force behind it. “So, if you eliminate the Islamic Republic of Iran, everything will move in the opposite direction,” Giuliani asserted. In truth, only 5% of the UK population is Muslim. However, Giuliani said that even though they are small in number, they “have extraordinary power.” “How many mayoral positions do they hold? A lot,” he remarked, alluding to several elected mayors in the UK who are Muslim, including London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan. Giuliani also referenced the Quran. He began by mocking the number of women wearing veils in the UK, which he said he had never seen before. “There is debate about whether Sharia law should be respected. Of course it should not be respected,” he said again. “Sharia law is a death cult. And the Quran is a death cult,” he stated. Giuliani also mentioned UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the interview. He said that the Labour Party PM appears to be heavily influenced politically by Muslims. King Charles’s Stance It should be noted that King Charles III is known as a devout Anglican. His deep involvement with Islam is related to his interest in traditionalism, a 20th-century esoteric school of thought that initially opposed the modern world, believing that all major religions hold universal truths that can serve as remedies for contemporary problems. “If (the Traditionalists) defend the past, it is because in the pre-modern world, all civilisations were marked by the presence of the sacred,” Charles said in a 2006 speech. The king’s views on the US-Israel war in Iran are unknown. However, it has been widely reported that he personally opposed the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
