Uproar as SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja Student OSIS Chairman Claims Dismissal After Criticising MBG

A video has gone viral on social media showing a teenager, reportedly named Bayu, claiming he was dismissed from his position as OSIS chairman at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja after criticising the free nutritious meals programme (MBG). The school has refuted the claims and stated that they have summoned the individual in question. In the video uploaded by the X account @regar_oposisi, the teenager introduces himself as Bayu, the OSIS chairman of SMA Muhammadiyah 3. In the 1 minute 17 second clip, he alleges he was unilaterally removed from his position by the school for criticising and rejecting MBG. “Bayu, OSIS chairman of SMA 3 Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Unilaterally dismissed as OSIS chairman by the school for criticising and rejecting MBG. Please clarify @muhammadiyah,” reads the tweet in the post, as seen by detikJogja on Monday (6/4/2026). When contacted for confirmation regarding the veracity of the video, Muflikh Najib, Deputy Head of Student Affairs at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja, confirmed that the teenager is indeed named Bayu and is a 12th-grade student at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja. However, Muflikh denied that Bayu was the OSIS chairman of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja. He also said he had called Bayu for clarification. “Bayu himself is not the OSIS chairman or IPM chairman, so Bayu is now in 12th grade, while organisational positions are for 11th grade. Last year in 11th grade, Bayu did not participate in the organisation and was not the chairman. He participated in 10th grade but only for a few months before resigning,” he explained when met by reporters at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja on Monday (6/4/2026). “When we asked, the student himself said it was a lie, but we haven’t finished delving deeper because 12th graders are currently taking exams. For now, this is all we can say,” Muflikh added. Furthermore, Muflikh noted an inconsistency in the timeline of when the MBG programme first arrived at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja, which does not match Bayu’s statements in the video. “We received MBG only this year, and Bayu is in 12th grade this year, while organisations are for 11th grade. So everything he said is not true,” he revealed. Muflikh said the school does not know when or where the video was made. However, he emphasised that the school will still investigate the incident. “I don’t know much, but from the video, it looks like some kind of gathering, I don’t know,” Muflikh explained. “We are delving into this issue, investigating the motive, the purpose, and the objective. In our view, this is disturbing,” he concluded.
