Upon Arrival in Seoul, Prabowo Prepares to Discuss Energy Cooperation to AI with South Korea
President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Seoul Air Base (K-16) in Seongnam, South Korea, on Tuesday (31/3) at 19:27 local time. The arrival of President Prabowo marks the beginning of his first official visit to the Land of Ginseng.
The Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1, carrying the President and his entourage, landed safely and was greeted by several officials, including South Korea’s Minister of Climate, Energy, and Environment Kim Sungwhan, South Korea’s Ambassador to Indonesia Yoon Soongu, and Indonesia’s Ambassador to South Korea Cecep Herawan.
The President’s arrival was also welcomed with a 21-gun salute, signifying the highest honour for a head of state. In addition, the President was greeted by several Palace Guards wearing traditional Korean attire, hanbok.
After the welcoming ceremony, President Prabowo immediately entered a vehicle to head to his accommodation before starting the official agenda the following day.
During this visit, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the South Korean Presidential Palace, the Blue House, on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.
This visit also coincides with the 53rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and South Korea. Spokesperson for the South Korean Presidential Office, Kang Yu-jung, previously stated that the two leaders will discuss strengthening cooperation in various strategic sectors.
Several areas that will be the focus of discussions include artificial intelligence (AI), infrastructure, shipbuilding, nuclear energy, energy transition, and cultural creative industries. In addition, the two countries will also promote increased cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, and defence.
This meeting is expected to solidify the special strategic partnership (Special Strategic Partnership) between Jakarta and Seoul to a higher level. Besides technology issues, the two leaders will also accelerate efforts in trade and investment to strengthen economic stability in the Asian region.
