Upon Arrival in Jakarta, Anwar Ibrahim to Discuss This Issue with Prabowo
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Jakarta on Friday evening to accept an invitation from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for a dialogue on the conflict in the Middle East. Anwar was welcomed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.
“Welcome to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, to hold a meeting with my friend, President Prabowo Subianto,” said Anwar in a statement quoted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday (27/3).
Anwar Ibrahim stated that the meeting with Prabowo would be fully utilised to discuss developments in the increasingly acute West Asia conflict, as well as its implications for regional stability and the global economy, including the impact on Malaysia and Indonesia.
It was previously reported that Anwar Ibrahim would meet Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Friday (27/3) to discuss the latest geopolitical situation.
“Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will make a special visit to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, on 27 March 2026, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto,” stated the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
Wisma Putra conveyed that the visit would focus on recent geopolitical developments, particularly the conflict in West Asia, and its impact on regional stability and the global economy, including implications for Malaysia and Indonesia. (Ant/P-3)
