Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) has established a Work From Home (WFH) policy. UPI also ensures that all implemented policies remain in line with applicable laws and regulations.

UPI Rector Prof H Didi Sukyadi, on Wednesday (8/4), stated that the WFH policy is generally applied to all staff in both academic and non-academic units, with differing implementation patterns. In non-academic units, staff will carry out WFH every Friday.

Meanwhile, in academic units and health services, work is conducted on a proportional Work From Office (WFO) basis, with the provision that 50% of staff attend on rotation, so that every staff member still has a WFH obligation one day per week.

“Specifically for units that provide direct services to the public, UPI sets a WFO pattern with staggered working hours to ensure services continue optimally. Meanwhile, faculties and units that allow WFH implementation follow the provisions as previously explained,” he clarified.

Didi emphasised that WFH is not applied on lecture days, so academic activities continue as per academic regulations. In-person lectures must be conducted at least 10 face-to-face meetings as stipulated in the academic guidelines, thus maintaining the quality of learning.

There is no difference in policy between educational support staff and lecturers. However, the scheduling of staff carrying out WFH is done on a rotation basis and left to the discretion of each Dean or Unit Head.

Thus, UPI’s WFH policy maintains a balance between work effectiveness, smooth service delivery, and compliance with national regulations, without reducing the quality of academic administration.
