Uphill Road to Achieve 30% Manufacturing Export Share Target

The target of the Ministry of Industry to increase the sales ratio of manufactured products from the current composition of around 20% for the export market and 80% for the domestic market to 30% exports and 70% domestic is considered ambitious. However, this target can still be achieved if supported by structural transformation of the industry and improvements in national competitiveness. Economist from the Center of Reform on Economics (Core) Indonesia, Yusuf Rendy Manilet, said that increasing the portion of manufacturing exports is not solely related to a rise in export figures, but rather concerns a change in the orientation and structure of the national industry.
