Update! US-Iran War Breaks Out Again, Drones and Missiles Strike Kuwait and Bahrain
Escalation of conflict has once again occurred in the Arab region between the United States and Iran, between Tuesday and Wednesday (3/6/2026) local time. Reports indicate that the confrontation has expanded between the two parties, with militaries exchanging fire.
On Tuesday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that American forces disabled an “unladen oil tanker” attempting to breach the US blockade and sail towards an Iranian port in the Persian Gulf. It was reported that the crew of the Botswana-flagged tanker M/T Lexie “ignored repeated warnings,” prompting US forces to fire Hellfire missiles into the ship’s engine room to prevent it from reaching Iran.
Subsequently, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed via Telegram that they had retaliated against the US attack on the tanker. The IRGC claimed its forces attacked the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and a US airbase in Kuwait using missiles and drones.
In a statement to Axios, the US military via CENTCOM acknowledged the attacks. However, the US military stated that it had intercepted several Iranian ballistic missiles and drones.
The US military also conducted strikes on Qeshm Island, Iran, where IRGC towers are located. CENTCOM described these strikes as “self-defence against Iranian attack attempts across the Middle East.”
“Two Iranian missiles fired towards Kuwait failed to reach their targets or were destroyed mid-flight, and three missiles launched towards Bahrain were immediately intercepted by US and Bahraini air defence forces,” CENTCOM asserted. “All Iranian attacks against American forces failed.”
The US-Iran war has been ongoing for three months. The regional conflict remains at a stalemate as the US and Iran have repeatedly failed to transform a fragile ceasefire into a lasting peace agreement.
In a report on Tuesday, Iranian media reported that Tehran is reviewing a peace proposal suggested by the administration of US President Donald Trump to end the war, though communication with Washington has been absent for several days. Meanwhile, Trump stated that negotiations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, quoting CNBC International, Kuwait confirmed it was facing “missile and drone attacks” and urged its citizens to follow security and safety instructions. The Bahraini Ministry of Interior also activated warning sirens, urging citizens to seek shelter.
