VIVA – The temporary suspension of flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has been extended once again. The measure was taken as a precaution following increased eruption activity at Mount Anak Krakatau, which could potentially spread volcanic ash around the airport area.
Previously, the halt on flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta Airport was scheduled to last only on Sunday, 6 September 2026. However, developments in volcanic activity meant the policy had to be continually adjusted to safeguard flight safety.
In the earlier stage, the closure was extended until 08:59 WIB on Monday, 7 September 2026. Now, the temporary suspension of operations has been extended again until 18:00 WIB on Monday, 7 September 2026.
The latest information was conveyed through an official statement from the operator of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The decision to extend the flight suspension was made after considering the activity of Mount Anak Krakatau and its potential impact on flight operations.
“In connection with the increased eruption activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is suspending flight operations until 18:00 WIB,” the airport’s official statement read, as quoted from the Instagram account @soekarnohattaairport on Monday, 7 September 2026.
