Perumda Dharma Jaya states that the price of chicken meat in Jakarta is currently in the range of Rp38,500 to Rp40,500 per kilogram, down from the previous Rp45,000 per kilogram at the retail level.

The Director of Perumda Dharma Jaya, Raditya Endra Budiman, in Jakarta on Thursday (19/3), said this price normalisation was carried out in collaboration with the National Food Agency’s (Bapanas) Saber Food Violations Task Force.

This is a follow-up to field findings of retail traders selling chicken at Rp45,000 per kg, admitting to obtaining live bird supplies at Rp32,000 per kg from lessees in the Pulogadung Animal Slaughterhouse (RPH) area.

“After conducting socialisation and in-depth dialogue, a significant price adjustment occurred. The retail chicken price, which previously reached Rp45,000 per kg, has now been brought down to the range of Rp38,500 to Rp40,500 per kg,” Raditya explained.

He stated that the price normalisation is intended to give retail traders room to sell broiler chicken meat to the public at a maximum in line with the reference price circular.

“We do not tolerate prices exceeding the government reference in our operational areas. This synergy between the regional-owned enterprise and the lessees is expected to guarantee Jakarta residents that animal protein stocks are available at reasonable and controlled prices,” he said.

Dharma Jaya will continue to tighten daily supervision at all RPHs to ensure price compliance is maintained until the upcoming Eid al-Fitr. (Ant/P-3)
