Update on the Current Situation Around the DPR Area After the Demonstration
A number of people gathered around Jalan Pejompongan, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, and Jalan Palmerah Timur, West Jakarta, after a demonstration at the DPR RI building dispersed on Thursday (27/9).
According to detikcom monitoring, a motorcycle was seen burning near the location. In addition, crowds gathered around Jalan Pejompongan until the road was blocked. The crowd spread towards Palmerah Station, the BPK building, and the Ministry of Forestry building.
Most of the crowd gathered on Jalan Pejompongan heading towards Tanah Abang. They gathered in the middle of the road, preventing vehicles from passing through the area.
Firecrackers were heard several times around the Slipi bridge connecting Jalan Gatot Soebroto. Police officers were seen guarding the area.
A number of people were also seen crowding around the railway tracks connecting Tanah Abang and Palmerah stations.
KRL services on the Rangkasbitung–Tanah Abang route experienced travel adjustments. KRL trains from Rangkasbitung only travelled as far as Palmerah Station before being dispatched back towards Rangkasbitung.
In addition, TransJakarta corridor 9 bus routes were diverted because the road in front of the DPR/MPR building was closed. The Gatot Subroto road section was closed due to a public aspiration demonstration that had been ongoing since midday.
Earlier, the Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu (AMPB) held a demonstration in front of the DPR building. The AMPB crowd then left the DPR building at around 14.00 WIB after being received by DPR leaders.
After the AMPB crowd dispersed, other groups arrived at the DPR building. Several groups then began to withdraw from the DPR building at 17.50 WIB. They were observed leaving the DPR area.
However, after 18.00 WIB, some people were still seen holding their ground in front of the DPR. They appeared to crowd the DPR building fence on Jalan Gatot Subroto. The remaining crowd did not appear to be wearing any group attributes.
After the demonstration, the inner-city toll road that had been closed was also reopened.
