Update on Sting Operation Against Muara Enim DPRD Member and Son in Irrigation Network Case
The Investigation Team of the South Sumatra High Prosecution Office carried out a sting operation (OTT) against a Muara Enim DPRD member with the initials KT and his son, RA, on Wednesday (18 February).
Head of the South Sumatra High Prosecution Office, Ketut Sumedana, said the operation was conducted in connection with alleged receipt of gifts or promises of gratification related to a project within the Muara Enim Regency.
“Today, 18 February 2026, the Investigation Team of the South Sumatra High Prosecution Office carried out a sting operation in Muara Enim, arresting two individuals with the initials KT, a member of the Muara Enim DPRD, and RA, the son of KT,” he said.
The prosecution office has named both as suspects in a case involving the receipt of gifts, promises or gratification/bribes related to the development of the Ataran Air Lemutu Irrigation Network in Tanjung Agung District under the Muara Enim Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR).
Alleged Receipt of Rp1.6 Billion
Ketut revealed that both suspects allegedly received approximately Rp1.6 billion from business operators or project partners.
“The money was connected to the disbursement of advance payments for the Ataran Air Lemutu Irrigation Network Development activity under the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) of Muara Enim Regency. As a result, the project did not proceed,” he said.
The project had a contract value of approximately Rp7 billion. Based on preliminary examination of 10 witnesses, the Rp1.6 billion is alleged to have been used to purchase a luxury vehicle.
Searches
Ketut stated that the South Sumatra High Prosecution Office investigation team conducted searches at three locations.
The three locations were the home of KT at Greencity Simple Housing Complex Block Q5, Muara Lawai Village, Muara Enim Regency; a second property also belonging to KT at Greencity Simple Housing Complex Block Q6, Muara Lawai Village, Muara Enim Regency; and the home of MH on Jl. Pramuka 4 Rt.1 Rw.7, Pasar II Sub-district, Muara Enim District, Muara Enim Regency.
“The investigation team of the South Sumatra High Prosecution Office has currently examined ten witnesses and it transpires that approximately Rp1.6 billion originated from the project,” he said.
Seizures
From the searches at the three locations, Ketut said investigators seized evidence including documents and other items.
Items seized included one white Alphard vehicle with licence plate B 2451 KYR, documents, electronic devices including mobile phones, as well as correspondence deemed necessary and relevant to the case.
Possibility of Further Suspects
Ketut explained that the case would continue to be developed and did not rule out the possibility of examining local government officials, including the Regent.
“This case will continue to be developed and we do not rule out the possibility of examining local government officials, including the Muara Enim Regent,” said the official, who previously served as Head of the Legal Information Centre of the Attorney General’s Office.
