Update on Mitsubishi Hybrid Vehicle Plans in Indonesia
JAKARTA – PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) has confirmed that its new electrification products will be launched in Indonesia in the near future.
Atsushi Kurita, President Director of PT MMKSI, stated that the company is currently preparing for the launch of its first hybrid model for the Indonesian market, including production planning.
“We are currently making preparations. We plan to begin production in the first half of 2026, and start marketing the vehicle in the second half,” Kurita told media in Jakarta on Friday, 27 February 2026.
However, he assured that the new hybrid model will be produced locally. This means it will utilise the manufacturing facility of PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia (MMKI), rather than being imported from abroad or as a completely built-up unit (CBU).
“We will produce it in Indonesia,” he said.
Regarding the launch of the new hybrid-based Mitsubishi product for the Indonesian market, Kurita had previously disclosed this during the IIMS 2026 exhibition.
“Globally, we already have several electrification product lines. In Japan, we have a small battery electric vehicle (BEV), in the United States we have the Outlander PHEV. In Thailand, we have a hybrid,” said Kurita.
