Update on LPG 12 Kg and 5.5 Kg Prices Across All Provinces
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has officially raised the price of non-subsidised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), or Bright Gas, in 12 kg and 5.5 kg sizes, effective from 18 April 2026.
This LPG price increase is the first since 2023, following a previous reduction in November 2023.
For the regions of Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara, the 12 kg LPG price rises from Rp 192,000 to Rp 228,000 per cylinder, an increase of 18.75%.
Prices in other regions will adjust according to distribution costs from the Elpiji Bulk Filling Station (SPBE).
According to the MyPertamina website, the ex-agent selling price applies for radii up to 60 kilometres from the SPBE, and may increase if the distribution distance is farther. These prices already include the agent’s margin and taxes as per regulations.
The LPG price increase is inseparable from the surge in global oil prices. Conflicts involving the United States, Israel, and Iran have disrupted global energy distribution, including the Strait of Hormuz route, which supplies around 20% of the world’s oil needs.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, emphasised that 12 kg LPG is non-subsidised elpiji intended for capable citizens.
“I want to ask, if it’s non-subsidised, is it for the rich or for the poor? For those who can afford it,” said Bahlil at the Ministry of ESDM, Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026).
He explained that the state is present for all citizens, but energy assistance is prioritised for the less fortunate group.
“The state is there to help all citizens, but the priority is for our brothers and sisters who are unable to afford it. Those who can afford it should contribute to mutual help,” he said.
“The subsidised one remains the same. I can only guarantee the subsidised price because it is the President’s order and regulatory mandate,” he stated.
He affirmed that non-subsidised LPG prices follow market mechanisms and may therefore be adjusted.
