Update on Lenteng Agung Road Repairs: Partially Reopened

Motorists travelling along Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung towards Depok, West Java, are facing continued delays after the reopening of a subsided road section fell behind the original schedule. The road was initially planned to reopen on Tuesday (2/6/2026) at 05:00 WIB; however, access was not fully available by early morning.

Officials opened only one side of the road at approximately 08:00 WIB, several hours later than the established deadline. The Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, explained that the delay was caused by the area sterilisation process and drainage works, which did not meet the targeted timeline.

“The closure began at 14:00 WIB yesterday, but the ‘clean and clear’ process by the Water Resources Department only commenced at 16:00 WIB. This is what ultimately caused the delay,” Budi stated at the location on Tuesday.

Budi also apologised to the public for the rescheduled opening. He noted that the concreting process was a significant factor, as the material requires sufficient time to dry and reach the necessary strength before it can support vehicle traffic.

“The concreting on the other side was only completed at 02:30 WIB yesterday, and the process takes approximately seven to eight hours,” he added.

Currently, vehicles travelling from Jakarta towards Depok can only pass through the single side of the road that has been opened. Despite the delay, the government has assured that the repair process is in its final stages. The Jakarta Transportation Agency aims to have the entire affected section of Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung fully reopened later today, provided the drying process proceeds as expected.
