Update on Lebaran Exodus 2026: Traffic Volume Begins to Increase
JAKARTA – As the 2026 Lebaran exodus period approaches, traffic volumes on several tollway sections have begun to show increases. This is evident from data recorded by Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division (JMT) on 8 days before the Eid al-Fitr holiday on 13 March 2026.
Based on this data, increases in vehicle flow are visible at several tollgates that serve as exit points from the Greater Jakarta region. Traffic heading towards Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Merak, and the Puncak area has shown changes compared to normal conditions.
At Cengkareng Tollgate, which leads to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, 83,572 vehicles were recorded passing through. This figure represents an increase of approximately 1.20 per cent compared to normal traffic volume of 82,577 vehicles.
Meanwhile, at Cikupa Tollgate, which serves as an access point to Merak, traffic volume was recorded at 55,520 vehicles. This represents an increase of 6.88 per cent compared to normal transaction traffic of 51,944 vehicles.
“In West Java region, an increase in traffic volume heading towards Bandung or Rancaekek has been observed. The total recorded was 76,107 vehicles, an increase of 1.93 per cent compared to normal transaction traffic volume of 74,668 vehicles,” said Widiyatmiko.
This increase was monitored through two main tollgates, namely Cileunyi and Pasteur tollgates on the Padaleunyi Toll Road section. Through Cileunyi Tollgate, 38,728 vehicles were recorded heading towards Rancaekek, Garut and surrounding areas, representing a 2.34 per cent increase compared to normal traffic of 37,844 vehicles.
Meanwhile, vehicles heading towards Bandung or Jakarta through Cileunyi Tollgate were recorded at 32,645 vehicles. This figure shows a quite significant increase of 14.23 per cent compared to normal traffic volume of 28,579 vehicles.
At Pasteur Tollgate, the volume of vehicles heading towards Bandung was recorded at 37,379 vehicles, a 1.51 per cent increase compared to normal conditions of 36,824 vehicles. Conversely, vehicles leaving Bandung towards Jakarta through the same tollgate were recorded at 30,999 vehicles, a slight decrease of 0.84 per cent compared to normal traffic of 31,261 vehicles.
