The latest update on the search and rescue (SAR) operation for the KMP Putri Yasmin ferry fire has recorded a change in the number of missing victims. From the five people previously being searched for, one has been confirmed safe after it was verified she was not on board the vessel during the incident. The Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhamad Hariyadi, stated that the survivor, I Ratu Agung Ayu Sekar (21), a resident of Mataram, had been reported safe by her family. “Based on information received by the SAR Command Post, Ms. Ayu had indeed purchased a ticket for KMP Putri Yasmin, so her name appeared on the manifest. However, due to a change of plans, she departed earlier on 9 August using another ship,” Hariyadi said on Friday. With this clarification, the joint SAR team is now focusing on the search for the four remaining missing victims. All four are Indonesian citizens. Hariyadi confirmed that the search operation is ongoing. “We have deployed KN 220 Mataram, rigid inflatable boats (RIB), and rigid buoyancy boats (RBB) to the scene to conduct evacuation and coordinate with vessels in the vicinity of the incident,” he stated. The search was temporarily suspended on Friday afternoon and will resume on Saturday morning to focus on locating the four individuals who have not yet been found.
