Update on Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 Electric Motorcycles in Indonesia
Jakarta — The presence of Kawasaki’s electric sport motorcycles, the Ninja e-1 and Kawasaki Z e-1, in Indonesia garnered attention when they were first launched in late 2023. At that time, both motorcycles were priced at approximately 140 million rupiah and became among the first electric motorcycles from a Japanese manufacturer to launch in Indonesia. Notably, they represented sports bikes rather than scooters, which dominate the market.
According to Michael, a sales representative, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday (11 March 2026), the motorcycles remain available for sale on a made-to-order basis. Sales volumes throughout 2025 in Indonesia have remained limited, with Michael estimating approximately 20 units sold, with the majority of buyers choosing the Ninja e-1. “The users are companies collaborating with PLN. They need electric motorcycles and are seeking branded models for their company performance,” Michael explained.
The Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 were first introduced to the Indonesian market in November 2023. Both motorcycles are equipped with electric motors producing a maximum power output of 9 kW (approximately 12 horsepower) and 40.5 Nm of torque. Power comes from two removable lithium-ion batteries, offering a range of approximately 70 kilometres and a top speed of up to 105 kilometres per hour with e-boost functionality.
For the Indonesian market in 2026, the Ninja e-1 is priced at approximately 150.6 million rupiah on-the-road Jakarta, whilst the Z e-1 is marketed at around 147.7 million rupiah on-the-road Jakarta.
