Update on Homecoming Traffic: Trans-Java Direction Begins to Become Congested
Jakarta, 14 March 2026 – A total of 459,570 vehicles were recorded leaving the Greater Jakarta area between 11-13 March 2026 (ten to eight days before Eid) during the 2026 Eid holiday period.
This figure represents the cumulative traffic flow from four major toll gates: Cikampek Utama, Kalihurip Utama, Ciawi, and Cikupa.
Jasa Marga Chief Executive Rivan A. Purwantono stated that the total volume of traffic leaving the Greater Jakarta area increased 4.8 per cent compared to normal traffic of 439,342 vehicles.
“The distribution of traffic leaving Greater Jakarta heads in three directions. The majority of 201,457 vehicles, or 43.8 per cent, head eastbound towards Trans-Java and Bandung,” said Rivan on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
Traffic leaving Greater Jakarta towards Trans-Java via the Cikampek Utama toll gate on the Jakarta-Cikampek highway recorded 108,140 vehicles, a 24.2 per cent increase compared to normal conditions.
Meanwhile, traffic heading towards Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama toll gate on the Cipularang highway recorded 93,317 vehicles, a 2.7 per cent decrease from normal conditions.
Traffic leaving Greater Jakarta towards Merak via the Cikupa toll gate on the Tangerang-Merak highway recorded 158,053 vehicles, a 6.0 per cent increase from normal.
Meanwhile, the number of vehicles leaving Greater Jakarta towards Puncak via the Ciawi toll gate on the Jagorawi highway recorded 100,060 vehicles, a 5.9 per cent decrease from normal conditions.
Specifically on 13 March 2026 (eight days before Eid), the traffic volume leaving Greater Jakarta through the four major toll gates reached 173,789 vehicles, a 7.9 per cent increase compared to normal traffic of 161,064 vehicles.
In addition, Rivan reminded that Jasa Marga will implement a 30 per cent toll tariff discount beginning Sunday, 15 March 2026 at 00.00 WIB until Monday, 16 March 2026 at 24.00 WIB (six to five days before Eid) for two days during the homecoming peak period.
This programme, he continued, represents the company’s support for the government’s efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow during both the homecoming and return journey for the 2026 Eid period whilst helping distribute traffic more evenly.
