Update on Andrie Yunus's Condition Following Acid Attack: Stable, but Still in High Care Unit

JAKARTA — Jane Rosalina, Head of the Impunity Division and Coordinator of KontraS (Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence), has disclosed the latest condition of Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS.

She stated that Andrie is currently receiving treatment in the high care unit (HCU) at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Senen, Central Jakarta.

“His condition is stable, though of course the medical team will provide updates to ensure greater accuracy,” said Jane at the YLBHI Office in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday (16 March 2026).

She added that thus far, the medical team at RSCM has successfully provided initial treatment for inflammatory reactions affecting Andrie’s body as a result of the acid attack, particularly affecting his eyes.

However, according to Jane, eye care is not the final medical procedure that Andrie will undergo.

“And regarding skin and other matters. But those will be confirmed by the hospital,” Jane explained.

Regarding the length of Andrie’s recovery process, Jane said she could not yet determine a timeline.

She cited the case of Novel Baswedan, a former investigator at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), who was attacked with acid in 2017 and required months of recovery.

“But we hope that our colleague Andrie Yunus recovers quickly and can soon be transferred to another ward and resume his activities. That is what matters most,” Jane added.

Previously, Andrie Yunus was attacked with acid by an unknown assailant last Thursday.

The incident occurred after Andrie finished recording a podcast titled “Remilitarisation and Judicial Review in Indonesia” at approximately 23:00 (11 PM).

Following the recording, Andrie went to the Cikini area to refuel his vehicle before heading home to the KontraS mess located in the Talang area of Menteng, Central Jakarta.
