The total number of victims from the accident involving the KRL and Argo Bromo Anggrek at East Bekasi Station in West Java on Monday night (27/4/2026) was 106 passengers, comprising 15 deaths and 91 injuries.

Of the injured victims, 38 have been allowed to go home, while the rest remain under hospital care.

The government, through Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, stated that handling the victims is the current top priority.

“We are ensuring that all victims receive optimal treatment. For KRL operations, reopening will be carried out only after all safety aspects are confirmed met, including clearance results from the KNKT,” said Dudy in an official statement on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Currently, trials of facilities, signalling, and readiness at East Bekasi Station are underway.

“We continuously express our apologies to all the public, especially the victims’ families and affected customers,” said Boby.

He added that the evacuation process was carried out gradually and cautiously, lasting around 10 hours to ensure all passengers were properly handled.

In the recovery process, the downstream line from Bekasi to Tambun has been open since Tuesday (27/4/2026) at 01:30 WIB.

The upstream line has also been declared safe for passage with a speed restriction of 30 kilometres per hour, in accordance with safety recommendations.

“KAI, along with regulators and related parties, continues to conduct comprehensive evaluations, both internal and external, and fully supports the KNKT’s investigation process,” said Bobby.

Additionally, KAI and the Ministry of Transportation reaffirmed their commitment to improving safety, including regulating level crossings and fulfilling field safety standards.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that KAI ensures all affected customers continue to receive the necessary services.

“KAI is committed to providing services to all customers, including a 100 percent refund process for cancelled trips. Information will be updated periodically,” Anne concluded.
