JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero)’s President Director, Bobby Rasyidin, stated that the number of fatalities from the accident involving the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and KRL at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi, West Java, has increased to seven as of 07:00 WIB.

In addition, dozens of other victims sustained injuries and are still undergoing treatment.

“I am updating the number of casualties from the train accident that occurred last night. There are seven deaths and 81 people injured and being treated,” said Bobby at Bekasi Timur Station on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

“Evacuation from the Bromo Anggrek train has been carried out. So all 12 carriages have been evacuated to Bekasi Station,” said Bobby.

He added that KRL (Electric Rail Train) services are temporarily operating only up to Bekasi Station. This policy is in place because the evacuation process at Bekasi Timur Station is still ongoing.

“Train operations, although the Commuter Line cannot yet be operated for boarding and alighting at this Bekasi Timur Station, for the Commuter Line we are limiting it to Bekasi Station,” he explained.

Bobby also assured that no railway staff were among the fatalities in the accident.

The accident occurred when the KRL heading to Jakarta–Cikarang was stopped at Bekasi Timur Station. At the same time, the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek from Surabaya collided with the KRL train on Monday (27/4/2026) night.
