UP Rector Reminds That Pancasila Values Should Be Implemented, Not Just Memorised
The Rector of Universitas Pancasila (UP), Adnan Hamid, has reminded the public that Pancasila values should not be limited to memorising its 36 points, but must be demonstrated through real implementation. “One example is that UP has six houses of worship, proving that Universitas Pancasila truly maintains campus diversity and tolerance. Therefore, we preserve this not just as a formality, but by filling it with religious activities,” said Adnan Hamid during a Bina Talenta workshop at the Faculty of Tourism, Universitas Pancasila, held in cooperation with House of Representatives Commission X in Jakarta on Thursday. Adnan cited the example of Vesak Day celebrations, where the Director General of Buddhist Community Guidance attended alongside members of the Muslim community, demonstrating that diversity is safeguarded and that Universitas Pancasila has a moral obligation to maintain it. In the context of tolerance, UP is viewed as a campus with six houses of worship that are not merely physical structures but are actively filled with student religious activities. Meanwhile, Dean of Tourism at Universitas Pancasila, Devi Roza K Kausar, stated that the workshop, attended by 20 high schools and vocational schools from across Greater Jakarta, aimed to ground Pancasila among Gen-Z so they can better understand it. “The implementation of Pancasila values certainly supports the creation of a superior and character-driven young generation,” she said. Devi added that efforts are being made to popularise Pancasila in a way that resonates with their age group. Students listened to presentations from speakers including Deputy Chair of House Commission X Hj Himmatul Aliyah, Bintang Andhyka, and Julians Andarsa. Participants also competed in creativity through a video content competition themed on Interfaith Tolerance and the Implementation of Pancasila Values.
