UP Rector Reminds That Pancasila Values Should Be Implemented, Not Just Memorised

The Rector of Universitas Pancasila (UP), Adnan Hamid, reminded that Pancasila values are not merely about memorising the 36 points of Pancasila, but require practical examples of implementation.

“One example is that UP has six places of worship, proving that Universitas Pancasila truly maintains a diverse and tolerant campus environment. Therefore, we ensure this is not just a formality but is filled with religious activities,” said Adnan Hamid during the Bina Talenta workshop at the Faculty of Tourism, Universitas Pancasila, held in collaboration with Commission X of the DPR, Jakarta, on Thursday.

Adnan noted that during Vesak Day celebrations, the Director General of Buddhist Community Guidance was present alongside members of the Muslim community, demonstrating the moral obligation to uphold diversity at Universitas Pancasila.

In the context of tolerance, he observed that UP’s six places of worship serve not only as structures but as active hubs for student religious activities.

Meanwhile, the Dean of Tourism at Universitas Pancasila, Devi Roza K Kausar, stated that the workshop, attended by 20 high schools from the Jabodetabek area, aims to ground Pancasila among Gen-Z to deepen their understanding.

“The implementation of Pancasila values certainly supports the creation of a superior and characterised younger generation,” she said.

Devi added that they are striving to popularise Pancasila in a manner that resonates with the age group of the participants.

Students listened to presentations from speakers including the Vice Chairperson of Commission X of the DPR, Hj Himmatul Aliyah, alongside Bintang Andhyka and Julians Andarsa.

Participants also engaged in a creative competition through video content creation themed around Inter-faith Tolerance and the Implementation of Pancasila Values.
