UP-PKB Cilincing conducts safety inspections on inter-city buses at Tanjung Priok Terminal ahead of Lebaran 2026 exodus
Jakarta — The Vehicle Testing Service Unit (UP-PKB) Cilincing, together with the management of Tanjung Priok Terminal in North Jakarta, has conducted safety checks (ramp checks) on inter-city and inter-provincial (AKAP) buses used for Lebaran 2026 mudik transport services.
“The inspection is carried out comprehensively, covering both administrative aspects and the technical condition of the vehicles,” said Hariagam, an examiner at UP-PKB Cilincing, in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The inspection aims to ensure that every fleet serving mudik journeys is in roadworthy condition and meets transport safety standards.
The inspection begins with verification of document completeness, such as vehicle registration (STNK), vehicle inspection certificates (KIR), and driving licences (SIM). Officers also cross-reference the chassis number and vehicle test number against existing documentation to confirm vehicle legality.
Hariagam said the inspection also covers emergency exits and emergency hammer tools which serve as evacuation equipment in emergency situations.
His team also manually examines the steering and braking systems by checking air pressure indicators. “Tyre condition receives particular attention, especially tyres that are worn or do not meet standards,” he said.
According to him, if deficiencies are found, officers will issue a repair notice to the bus company before the vehicle can be operated again.
“Vehicles that do not meet requirements must be repaired first. We also coordinate with terminal management for follow-up actions,” Hariagam said.
