Group Head of Corporate Secretariat at Pelindo, Ali Sodikin, stated that this achievement reflects public trust in the company’s services. He expressed gratitude that the series of outbound and return Eid travel in 2026 proceeded safely, orderly, and smoothly. “The 14.14% increase in passenger numbers reflects public trust in Pelindo’s services. This is the result of hard work by all field teams and solid synergy with stakeholders,” Ali said in a written statement on Tuesday (14/4/2026). A significant surge occurred at Tanjung Balai Karimun, where the number of passengers jumped 79.83% from 149,464 to 268,777 people. Meanwhile, in terms of vehicles, Tanjung Wangi Port recorded an increase of 68.23%, from 9,663 units to 16,256 units. General Manager of the Tanjung Balai Karimun Branch, Joni Hutama, stated that this result serves as a driver to continue improving. “This increase in passenger flow motivates us to continue enhancing service quality, both in terms of facilities, comfort, and passenger safety,” Joni said. One passenger, Andi, expressed satisfaction with the services at Tanjung Balai Karimun Port. “The service is very good and orderly. Officers are quick to assist, facilities are clean and comfortable. The boarding process is faster and more organised,” he revealed. Pelindo prepared several measures before the outbound season began. As many as 63 passenger terminals across Indonesia were improved in terms of facilities and security. Ciwandan Port was also optimised to alleviate congestion on the Merak-Bakauheni crossing route, one of the busiest points. Ali emphasised that this year’s success will serve as a foundation to continue improving services in the future.
