JAKARTA - The number of holiday travellers using public transport has been recorded at 7.7 million people, precisely 7,753,476 individuals. This figure represents the cumulative passenger movement from H-8 to H-3 of this year’s Eid. The Head of the Transport Safety and Security Policy Centre at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), who also serves as Chair of the Daily Post for Eid Transport 2026, Bernadette Endah Sekar Mayashanti, stated that the number of travellers has risen by 10.95 percent compared to the same period last Eid. She noted that the increase occurred across nearly all modes of transport. However, rail transport recorded the highest surge of 15.25 percent compared to last year. Meanwhile, ferry transport increased by 13.40 percent, followed by road transport which rose by 7.64 percent. In addition to passenger movement, there has also been an increase in vehicle traffic on toll roads. Based on H-3 data, the number of vehicles exiting the Jakarta toll gates rose by 4.35 percent compared to last year, while vehicles entering increased by 14.24 percent. The movement of vehicles entering and exiting the Jabodetabek toll gates was recorded to have risen by 0.97 percent. However, she warned of the potential for high waves in several water areas. “Based on BMKG data, although relatively safe, there are areas with wave heights reaching 2.5 to 4 metres. Therefore, we urge the public to comply with instructions from officers and to be more anticipatory regarding safety and security on sea transport,” she concluded.
