SINGAPORE (AFX-ASIA): United Overseas Bank Ltd said in a statement that its president Ernest Wong Yuen Weng is "retiring to pursue other interests."
The bank said Wong will still remain on its board of directors.
Wong, who is currently chairman of the Association of Banks in Singapore, is retiring effective Sept. 30.
Earlier, The Business Times reported that Wong had also stepped down as chairman of SPH AsiaOne to join Media Corp of Singapore, the state-owned broadcast monopoly, as chief executive.
SPH AsiaOne is the internet unit of Singapore Press Holdings, which is launching its own television stations next year.
