Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has disclosed its registration data for the 2026 Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Prestasi (SNBP) intake, reporting a 98.64 per cent enrolment rate. Out of a total quota of 1,834 students, only 25 failed to complete their registration. Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro stated that the 1.36 per cent who did not register typically chose to attend state service academies such as STAN or IPDN after being accepted. He also noted that students who are accepted via SNBP but fail to register face a three-year penalty barring them from future selections, including independent pathways, though he added this should be confirmed against the latest regulations. The university saw an increase in SNBP admissions in 2026, which Prof Nur Hidayanto attributed to the opening of new study programmes rather than a significant expansion of existing quotas. The clarification follows a call by House of Representatives Commission X member Sofyan Tan for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to investigate the narrative that 60,000 SNBP candidates did not re-register. Tan expressed concern that some students might be withdrawing because they could not secure KIP Kuliah funding. The head of the national SNPMB committee, Prof Eduart Wolok, stated that the 60,000 figure was incorrect and actually referred to the total non-registrations across all pathways in 2025, while the SNBP re-registration rate stood at 92 per cent. He added that feedback on verification of withdrawal reasons would be considered for future admissions cycles and warned that state universities may reduce quotas for schools whose students frequently fail to re-register.
