Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira (Unwira), Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), has received a research grant allocation of Rp 2.7 billion for 2025. The grant comes from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek).
This was revealed by the Head of the Higher Education Service Agency (LLDIKTI) for Region XV NTT, Adrianus Amheka, during the graduation ceremony at Unwira Kupang on Wednesday (25/3/2026). Amheka stated that the total funding received by LLDIKTI Region XV last year amounted to Rp 16.2 billion.
“From that total, 16.6% of the funds were allocated to Unwira Kupang, amounting to Rp 2.7 billion,” said Amheka.
Amheka acknowledged that the government is implementing budget efficiency for 2025. Nevertheless, he noted that Kemendiktisaintek continues to allocate research grants to private higher education institutions (PTS) across Indonesia.
“Even though there was budget efficiency last year, support for research to PTS throughout Indonesia from the total 100% of research funding, 60% is allocated for research grants to PTS,” he explained.
The Governor of NTT, Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, also attended the Unwira Kupang graduation ceremony today. Laka Lena hopes that Unwira can contribute to preparing quality human resources (HR) to advance development in NTT.
“We hope that graduates from Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira can contribute, can give themselves and the abilities they possess to society in accordance with wise development with the times,” said Laka Lena.
