Unveiling Scam in Bogor, 16 Immigration Officials Receive Award from Japanese Police
The award was given to several senior leaders and staff directly involved in the case disclosure process. Among them were Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko; Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement, Yuldi Yusman; Director of Immigration Cooperation and Representative Development, Arief Munandar; Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Jaya Saputra; Head of the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Bogor, Ritus Ramadhana; Head of the Jakarta Immigration Detention Centre, Slamet Wahyuni; and personnel from the Bogor Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Section who worked professionally and in coordination.
Director of the Second Organized Crime Division of Japan’s National Police Agency, Kobayashi Masaya, expressed deep appreciation for the support from Indonesian Immigration, as reflected in the award.
“I would like to express my thanks for your significant contribution in capturing the fugitive suspect in your country, who was responsible for the telecommunications fraud case that occurred in Japan,” Kobayashi stated in a written remark on Saturday (2/5/2026).
“With this, I convey my sincere gratitude for your extraordinary assistance,” he added.
Meanwhile, Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, emphasised that the award is the result of the hard work of the entire apparatus in upholding the state’s legal dignity and strengthening international cooperation.
“This award from Japan’s NPA is proof that the Indonesian Immigration apparatus is capable of working professionally, responsively, and trusted in handling transnational crime. This is the result of the collective dedication of all field officers,” he said.
Furthermore, Hendarsam added that this success serves as motivation for all immigration personnel to continue improving the quality of supervision and services to the public.
“We will continue to be present in safeguarding the state’s sovereignty, firmly cracking down on every immigration violation, and providing the best services to the public. ‘Immigration for the People’ is not just a slogan, but a real commitment in every step of dedication,” he asserted.
Previously, the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Bogor deported 13 Japanese nationals involved in online scamming. They were repatriated to their home country after being proven to have abused their residence permits and engaged in cybercriminal activities in the Bogor Regency area.
Head of the Bogor Immigration Office, Ritus Ramadhana, explained that the case disclosure began with intensive observations by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) over several days in the Sentul area, Babakan Madang.
“This activity is a follow-up to indications of suspicious activities that we monitored in the field. Officers then moved to conduct an inspection on Monday night (2/3/2026),” Ritus stated in his remarks on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
In the operation, officers searched three different houses. In addition to finding 13 Japanese nationals, officers also seized several pieces of evidence strengthening suspicions of cross-border crime. The evidence included items resembling Japanese Police identities; communication devices (mobile phones and computers); and signal boosters and jammers.
Ritus added that during the raid, three of them were unable to show travel documents or passports. Based on in-depth examinations, they were suspected of running a scam scheme targeting Japanese citizens from Indonesia.
