Unud Student Council Storms Bali DPRD, Demands Concrete Solutions to Waste Problem
Hundreds of students from the University of Udayana (Unud), coordinated by the Student Executive Board (BEM), held a demonstration in front of the Bali DPRD building on Wednesday (22/4/2026). They demanded that the Bali DPRD contribute to providing concrete solutions to the waste problem in Bali. The students assessed that the district/city and provincial governments have so far lacked synchronisation in resolving the waste issue. Several banners were unfurled reading ‘Welcome to the DPRD Bali Landfill’ and ‘Bali Waste Emergency’. There was even one reading ‘Om Swastiastu, Permission to Resist Pak Yan’. Observations at the location showed that the student crowd delivered speeches for approximately 30 minutes before being allowed to enter the DPRD Bali Wantilan Building for an open dialogue. The dialogue was led directly by Bali Governor Wayan Koster, Head of the Bali Environmental Agency I Made Dwi Arbani, Head of Bali Satpol PP I Dewa Nyoman Rai Darmadi, Chairman of the Bali DPRD Dewa Made Mahayadnya, and Deputy Chairman of the Bali DPRD I Gde Komang Kresna Budi.
